Working Mother magazine and Flex-Time Lawyers gave yet another strong nod to Neal Gerber Eisenberg's enterprising women's initiatives by including the firm on its Top 50 list of "Best Law firms for Women" in 2012, marking the firm's fourth consecutive time of the honor.
“The Working Mother and Flex-Time Lawyers 50 Best Law Firms for Women have led the way in creating new models for the rest of their profession in promoting women and developing more generous work-life policies,” said Carol Evans, president of Working Mother Media.
In its profile on Neal Gerber Eisenberg, Working Mother magazine highlighted some of the women’s programming executed by the firm’s Women’s Network and its professional development department, including a special retreat for women partners and creating a group of professional development advisers.
The publication also called it “impressive” that more than 30 percent of the firm’s female attorneys work reduced hours and noted that in 2012, the firm increased its maternity leave from 12 fully paid weeks to 14.
“Getting recognized by Working Mother just further confirms that the hard work by the great minds of our women attorneys is truly paying off and making an impact,” said associate Tonya G. Newman, who co-chairs the firm’s Women’s Network. “By being cast in the national spotlight, we hope that we’ll inspire even more women lawyers in their professional and personal advancement.”
Working Mother and Flex-Time Lawyers founded the 50 Best Law Firms initiative for Women in 2007 to celebrate the law firms that are most successful in retaining and promoting women lawyers. Neal Gerber Eisenberg was also recognized in 2008, 2009 and 2011. There was no list in 2010.
“We hope these firms will lead the charge to further improve the status of women in the profession by creating structural change within the law firm model, as well as empowering women to take the individual action steps they need to make sustainable change,” said Deborah Epstein Henry, president of Flex-Time Lawyers.
