Sonya Rosenberg is experienced in counseling and representing employers in various labor and employment-related matters. She provides advice to clients about various employee-based legal issues through the many stages of the employment relationship, from pre-hire to following separation. Sonya also represents employers in litigation, ranging from the successful defense of administrative charges, to lawsuits and appeals at the state and federal levels. She has given multiple presentations and authored multiple articles on various employment-related topics, including effective employment audit and risk management practices, discrimination and harassment, technology – including the effects of social media and BYOD (Bring Your Own Device)– in the workplace, restrictive covenants, Family Medical Leave Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act, workplace violence, conducting reductions in force and various notable developments in labor and employment law.
In addition to her practice, Sonya is a firm delegate and member of the Leadership Team of the Coalition of Women Initiatives in Law, a non-profit association focused on supporting Chicago female attorneys, law firms and companies. She is also a member of the Chicago chapter of the International Women’s Forum, an international organization that supports global, national and local networks of women leaders in government, medicine, business, education, the arts and community service. At the firm, Sonya is a member of the Neal Gerber Eisenberg’s Women Network Leadership Committee and Green Committee.
Sonya has been named a 2014 and 2013 Rising Star by the Illinois Super Lawyers, a distinction awarded to 2.5% of the practicing lawyers in the state of Illinois. In 2012, Sonya was named by Today’s Chicago Woman as one of the 100 Women to Watch.
