Scott J. Bakal focuses his practice on structuring sophisticated transactions for entrepreneurial companies and high net worth individuals. He also represents many family offices, owners of business jets and companies and executives in employment contract negotiations.
Scott has represented clients in public offerings and private placements of start-up technology companies; the sale of a foreign currency trading operation; the investment in a Spanish language internet portal company; the structuring of the private equity fund for one of the ten largest banks in the world; the sale of a NASDAQ over-the-counter market maker to a publicly traded brokerage firm; and the purchase of a manufacturing business in Mexico.
Scott has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America (within “Trusts and Estates”) since 2010 and has been recognized by Super Lawyers for 2006-2007 and 2009-2013.
Scott is a frequent speaker at the Chicago Bar Association and has served as an adjunct professor at IIT/Chicago-Kent College of Law. He is a member of the American Bar Association- Sections on Taxation and International Law.
