08.30.10Kramer book: green energy 'know-how'

Abstract: A lawyer for McDermott, Will & Emery LLP has put together a book she says is "the first of its kind" on the legal and financial know-how needed to develop "green" energy sources. "The world is changing, and this is really a book that is addressing the cutting edge of change," said Andrea S. Kramer, a partner at McDermott. "It can be of interest to someone who has just a casual interest in how green and renewable markets work. It also can be guide for people who want to actually put together these types of projects. Kramer's book is "Energy and Environmental Project Finance Law and Taxation: New Investment Techniques" (published by Oxford University Press, U.S.), just out this month. Abstract: We must lift as we climb. At its recent 2010 Annual Awards Luncheon, the Alliance for Women honored Angela R. Elbert, a partner with Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg LLP, who chairs the firm's Directors' & Officers' Practice Group, with the 2010 Alta May Hulett Award, which is presented to a lawyer in practice for 15 years or less. Vicki Donati, General Counsel of Crate & Barrel, introduced Elbert as a lawyer who possesses the "rare combination" of excellence and strength balanced by compassion and humility. Donati observed that the Hulett Award recognizes those who are more than great lawyers; it honors those who have made significant strides in advancing women in the profession.

Abstract: Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg LLP partner Angela R. Elbert has been named the recipient of the Chicago Bar Association Alliance for Women’s 2010 Alta May Hulett Award. Named for the first woman in Illinois to become an attorney, the award recognizes lawyers that promote positive change and have contributed to the advancement of women in the legal profession. Ms. Elbert was presented with the award at the Alliance for Women’s Annual Awards Luncheon held today in Chicago.

Abstract: CHICAGO, October 22, 2009 – Grant Thornton LLP, the U.S. member firm of Grant Thornton International Ltd, and Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg LLP hosted a panel presentation entitled “Keys to Success for Women in Business,” which was followed by a networking reception for all women attendees to encourage them to build their professional network. With more than 160 women executives from the Chicago business community in attendance, the event expanded professional networks while fostering a more inclusive business community.
