Data-Mapping and Devising an E-Discovery Strategy Under the Amended Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (BLSS)
January 8, 2008

Speakers: Christine C. Franklin
Coordinators: NGE Business Law Seminar Series

8:00 AM – 10:00 AM

Amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (“Amendments”) relating to discovery of electronically stored information (“ESI”) put data-mapping front and center in formulating an effective e-discovery strategy. In the context of electronic discovery, “data-mapping” means identifying where and in what format various types of ESI reside on a business’s systems. Attendees will learn the keys to leveraging data-mapping into an effective e-discovery strategy.

Among the topics to be discussed are:

  • A checklist for a basic e-discovery plan
  • Converting gains from pre-litigation data-mapping to discovery advantage
  • Ways to allocate discovery obligations, shift burdens and achieve cost-savings under the Amendments
  • Implementation tips from Maryland District Court’s Suggested Protocol and various other guidelines
  • Significance of the Amendments for recipients of third-party discovery requests

All attendees must register in advance due to space limitations. Absolutely no walk-ins allowed.

Approved for 1.5 Illinois MCLE credit hours.
