Gerry has developed a well-earned reputation for providing strategic guidance to employers in numerous types of employee relations matters, including labor issues arising out of corporate transactions such as sales and mergers, collective bargaining and compliance with the full range of federal and state labor and employment statutes. He has extensive experience in employment contract disputes and other issues that arise between employers, their employees and union representatives. He has tried jury and nonjury employment claims in federal and state courts as well as before U.S. Courts of Appeal.

He has successfully managed various transactional and adversarial matters related to unionized workforces, including negotiating labor contracts, managing labor arbitrations, defending a variety of charges brought by the NLRB, and developing strategies for gaining union acceptance of significant institutional policy and procedural changes that often accompany sales and mergers.

In addition to his extensive labor relations practice, Gerry also litigates and provides daily counsel on the full range of traditional employment matters, including defending employment discrimination and retaliation lawsuits, defending wage and hour claims, obtaining temporary and permanent injunctions, defending and prosecuting noncompetition agreement claims and negotiating and preparing noncompetition agreements.

Gerry is a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, a professional association honoring the leading lawyers nationwide specializing in the practice of labor and employment law. He conducts regular seminars on a wide variety of labor and employment law issues, including periodic legal updates for attorneys and managers. Gerry is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at DePaul University College of Law, where he teaches labor law.
